To Splurge or Save-Interior Decorating

Many individuals are looking for ways to amplify the décor of their homes and apartments, but don’t have tons of extra money to devote to these projects. Some things are definitely worth a splurge, while there are other tips that can help a space look expensively decorated without having to break the bank.

One way to make a place look larger is to hang mirrors. Large floor length mirrors at the ends of hallways can create the illusion that the hallway is much longer. Mirrors also help to reflect light, which helps the space appear brighter and more spacious. A framed mirror can create the appearance of a window, particularly in a smaller apartment or condominium. Instead of replacing a couch or carpet in a room due to a stain or tear, placing a rug or a cashmere throw over the spot is a more cost-effective solution.

Those who are able to sew might choose to re-upholster a chair or couch cushion. Brightly colored lampshades can liven up a room, and are often inexpensive. An arrangement of flowers on a table can increase the ambience of a room as well. Touch up spots on a wall with paint, or repaint a whole room, to help it look fresh and new. When considering home improvements, individuals can use a prepaid card to allot themselves a specific amount of money and not go over the budget.

A person’s home is where a great deal of time will be spent. It should be comfortable and reflect individual style and taste, and making small improvements can help it to feel much more enjoyable and relaxing.
